Bridgestone Corporation, the world’s largest tire and rubber company, contacted the
Myers School of Art in the fall of 2019 to seek design assistance with their 2020
Olympic Skateboard submission. With each Olympic Games, sponsors are asked
to submit a design to be displayed in the US Olympic house.
The senior design class was given the opportunity to visit Bridgestone headquarters
and talk with the in-house design team. Their creative brief was very open ended with
only slight suggestions to add a patriotic look and feel. After a debrief on their company
brand guidelines, the project was ours to interpret. Of the 15 student submissions,
these designs advanced to the second round (top five).
